Large Cage?

Hey guys so I have a 5 month old male panther chameleon and he has a large reptibreeze cage(18'x18'x36') and I have the cage cut off to make the cage smaller for him, do you guys think it is okay to just let him have full cage? I have a reptisun 5.0 strip light and a 60 watt everyday light bulb as his basking bulb. Thanks!!
