anyone know if kiwi would be good or bad for gut loading? I know it's a pretty nutritious fruit (for people) and I love them, but I don't know about calcium: phosphate or if it has the chemical that blocks calcium absorption (for got what it's called)
not too sure but my veiled loves to eat kiwi and has never seemed to have a problem with it. he only gets a few small slivers maybe once or twice a week
Green flesh Kiwi will not hurt your chameleons if used as a gutload for feeders. It is high in vitamin C. The calcium to phosphorous ratio is essentially balanced in the green variety. According to what I've read, it is not excessively high in goitrogens or oxalic acid.
Note however that the golden/yellow flesh type has more phosphorous than calcium, and thus should not form a significant part of the gutload.
