Can someone recommend a dusting schedule to me for a kinyongia tavetana (dwarf fischers chameleon)? Their a montane species so less dusting I know has to be done. Let me know, thanks.

Well I just spoke to mike with FLChams and he told me to do this,

D3 twice a week

Multivitamin once every 2 weeks.

He also said if I am going to be misting him for 2 mins twice a day, than I dont need a dripper or a fogger, does that sound about right? I dont want to give him respiratory issues...

If I were using commercial supplements with access to UVB lighting, it would go something like this: Light dusting of plain calcium daily, D3 once a week, multivitamin twice a month. Feeders get a varied gut load and carrots are used for cricket hydration so you get some natural beta carotene.

Just what I'd do. Opinions are all over the map on this subject.

The main thing to consider is that calcium needs to be added to feeders to make up for poor calcium/phosphorus ratio. That's why I'd use it every feeding. Lightly though, not like ghost crickets.

Misting schedule sounds great.

He said no need for calcium without d3 since the chameleons not outside. So I dont know what Im going to do now. Yours and his reasons both make sense.

Quite the dilemma you've got there. ;) Fortunately I go by the facts I have available.

A cricket only has a 0.33:1 calcium : phosphorus ratio. Ideal is 2:1 which mean you have to use calcium every feeding. Mealworms are around 0.7:1 Dubia are 0.4:1 These figures all vary depending on which online chart you look at, but they are all saying basically the same thing. You need to add extra calcium if you want to come close to the ideal ratio.

Doesn't matter if your chameleon is housed inside or outside, the feeders calcium : phosphorus ratio doesn't change based on that. Only the need for extra D3. Clear as mud? :)

Not sure why anyone would say you don't need plain calcium. All of our chams need it. Go with Mike Fisher on this one.

I would say Mike @ FlChams said that because if you'd be using calcium with d3. But like Laurie said, I'd go with what Mike Fisher said

Wait a minute, I have reptical d3 and multivitamin, and exo terra calcium that I bought in early 2013, is it still good to use?

Calcium doesn't go bad, it is a mineral. It can degrade other vitamins mixed in with it in long term storage. The best place to ask is the manufacturer.

When I use the d3 or multivitamin on their appropriate days, do I skip all other supplements and just do that supplement? Example, on the day im supposed to give d3, do I just give d3, no others?
