Hello, new chameleon owner, When ever I'm in my room, he tends to hide or not really move at all, and whenever i leave he moves around the cage as normal ect. Should I maybe move him to a room with less human activity, or maybe put a cloth in the front of the cage so he cant see me ? I'll only be in my room maybe an hour or two at a given day. Just dont want him stressed.

Hello and welcome to the forum!

I have my male veiled (Peepers) in my room where there is a good amount of activity from sun-up to sundown. I however have had in in the same involvement from the time he was 4 weeks old (he is now 7.5 months). So he did not go from no activity to crazy activity overnight or after a scary shipping experience.

How long have you had him? It can take a lot of time, adjusting, and WORK, for your chameleon to settle down and start feeling comfortable.

I also think a lot is dependent on your individual chameleon. They can be quite the fussy bunch! Just go slow, give him stability, and make him feel safe.

You can also fill out the "how to ask for help" form; it's a great way for new keepers to check in and make sure they are providing everything required to have happy, healthy chameleons!
