He is in the middle of his shedding and has been rubbing his eyes and face on the perch... most the skin has come off but for some reason his left eye he has been keeping closed off and on and when it's closed i see him moving it around while its closed... I tried to drip some water in it to see if it will help him.. I'm wondering if some old skin got in it....

Just taking a stab at it. Sounds like the eye is dry or maybe he has something in it.

When you mist do you mist him? He needs water to fall upon his turrets for him to clean and lubricate efficiently.

To help if it is dry or debris. Give him longer mistings + 5 minutes a couple times a day. Be sure the water is either soaked up or dries between sessions. If you dont have a drainage set up you can see if he is willing to be in a shower chamber. https://www.chameleonforums.com/blogs/ataraxia/594-shower-chamber-treatment.html

Do you have any pics of him and the set up?

Other question:
How far is the basking light from the basking spot and whats your room ambient temps?

D3 shouldnt be used a couple times a week. To much preformed vitamin d will cause a chameleon hardships. Lightly dust, Plain calcium every feeding and a couple times a month with d3.

I've been trying to spray warm water on him and his eye, just seems to be moving it around while closed... Also the Sticky Tongue Farms indoor with D3 is very low in D3.. so giving it to him twice a week is ok... 4,400 IU VS. 32,000 IU in some others..

Rooms temps are about 70's and basking light is about 6 to 7 inches from his perch.... This started yesterday when we started shedding.. i was scratching his eyes on the perch and then today he was trying to get some skin off the left eye then it seemed like something was in it..

The product does have significantly less than most products. We dont know exactly what amounts of preformed Vit D to give. Thats not a risk im willing to take in the long run as we know too much will cause problems.

How are you providing a night time drop?

well, since that's about 35,200UI a month VS. 64,000IU a month if you use other products... i don't think i'll be over dosing... at i post in my help post night time temps are about 65 degrees

Sorry, but does not sound like a Vitamin D issue. With all the lighting available, vitamin D issues are pretty uncommon in the hobby.

It is much more likely to be a Vitamin A issue. No harm in trying Vitamin A in proper dosages. PM with full explanation sent.

If you try it, give us some feedback in a week or two.

We dont think it is a vit d either. It is just a convo on care besides the eye issue.

I think it is unlikely for a veiled nearing 5 months to need a preformed version of vit A. ;)

Ok... this all started during a shed.... rubbing his eyes... i really don't think is a vitamin A or D problem... i think maybe he scratched his eye or has something in it...

Ok boys and girls... Greengo's eye is OK! it's open and he's acting like nothing was wrong... Geeeze.. stress me out.. I worry to much, but he's my first and i want the best for him...

Ok. he's back to having one eye closed and now the other eye he's closing off and on.. i called the vet and they said he might have irratated in while trying to get the skin off it while shedding... dose anyone think tha sounds right?? also someone here in the forums said i might be a vitamin A problem.. i give him Rep Cal Herptivite once a month... is that not enough??

Well, im at a loss.. sometimes his eyes are open other times there not... dose any thing it could be the light?? I thought i had it far enough from him for burn in.. i raised it up more... Its a Reptisun 5.0 CFL

It is possible it is the light but i find it strange if he has been under it for a few months, now eye issues are happening. Typically light issues from lights present themselves fairly fast. If you believe it may be this. Remove the light and replace it with a low watt house bulb. He will be fine without the uvb for a few days. Be sure the temps below this bulb arent out of range. Try it for a few days. See if the eye changes.

Have you been giving him long mistings? Five minutes or more a couple times a day or tried the shower treatments yet?

Any pics of the chameleon with the eye closed and set up? This would help more than words.
