Squee!

I just got a message from my wife that Karma is laying!!! Not getting our hopes up as this is her first clutch. And amazingly, it only took one hook-up with the boy for success.

And now the waiting begins...

(BTW: Karma is an Ambilobe - I really should post pics)

you got a call like that and did not head home.... LoL I would have left my job and been home, but I am crazy like that! Thats why I have a SCHLAGE camara and watch Jasper from work =]

Just so you know if Jasper starts laying:eek::eek: you should head home!!!!:D:D

Not gonna freak out

Five hours later and she is still in there. She has dug two holes now. She has fallen asleep twice in there.

Well, I do have this picture of the Father.

Okay; she has laid (she is really skinny) and is covering her last hole. Since it is way past her bedtime, I will give her a few more minutes and then put her back in her enclosure

I am glad she is done and all is ok. Give her some extra goodies for a few days with a little extra calcium, it will help her recover faster.

Dad or Granddad neither are lacking in the colorful area!!! Nice

Now you go get some rest.:)

Poor girl still had a clump of dirt on her head this morning. I sprayed her real good before I left, but didn't want to try to clean it off. If it is still there tonight, I will clean her up.

I had an unexpected dinner last night and did not get home until late, so I left them in the lay box (with a basking lamp shining in). I will be moving them to the incubator tonight when I get home.

Thanks for asking :)

How many eggs did she lay? How's she doing now?
26 eggs. All very solid, bright white shells (which I assume is good - I know it is with my Beardies). Nesting comfortably in vermiculite in a 75-76 degree incubator.

Mom is doing great. She was anxious to eat this morning and there were no crickets in her enclosure this evening when I got home (I think I put about six well dusted 4-weekers in this morning). She enjoyed her misting this morning and again this afternoon (and had a drip today as well). She cleaned herself up well also.

Now the waiting begins...

It sound like things are going well. Do you always feed crickets that small? I would think a 1/2 inch at least, but I am not sure what a 4 week is, I order by size.

Our Rep store sells them by age (as that is how his source provides them). My backup store does the same thing.

4-week crickets are about 1/2" (maybe a little larger). The rule of thumb I shoot for is the length of the cricket should be no larger than the width of the Cham's mouth.
