Now this next one I am aware may cause some controversy. I know there are individuals out there that feel males should not be exposed to each other because it causes unneeded stress on the animals. However, I feel if done very infrequently it helps the animals establish their own territories and makes them feel maybe a little less captive. Sounds odd I know, however exposure to each other in the wild does happen, I would like to keep them as wild as I can. Feel free to discuss, knowledge is power!

Nice Chams

Very nice chams...What locale is Yamanu? He looks like my boy Aurelio. Your Apollo does look like my Valerio. I think you recently commented on that similarity. I let my males see each other ocassionally too. Heck they see each other across the room all day anyway. They understand the cage concept and don't react unless a male comes out of a cage. If they see a male out of a cage they do the puff up/fire up thing. I think doing this can stimulate some breeding activity too. I've heard that it can help a "slow" or reluctant male become a little more interested in breeding with a female.

Catherine, Maroantsetra ;) (East coast. North of Tamatave, South of Andapa). Not the most vibrant locale, but the range of colours shown from the same male is mindboggling.

Ken, I ment to comment earlier. Yamanu looks like he's warmed up to you and his new home nicely. I'm in agreement with you. In my opinion a little male-male interaction from tiem to time keeps their hopes up per-se. Gives them a reason to keep their wild instincts hightend.

Just a note, he should be comming up on his dull period (winter). He'll likely have more greens than the earth and hot colours. His diet may diminish slightly, so I tend to try and get some larger meals in before that.
