No offense meant at all but your male looks a little dehydrated. See how the two bulges in his casque are sunk in and his eye is a little sunk in? Those are both signs of dehydration.

Maybe try a couple of long showers this week and add some extra misting sessions. The showers usually work wonders.

The fleshy area with in the crest is more of a fat reserve in my opinion. You can have a very skinny chameleon with deep indentations in his crest, and cheeks, and he could be the most hydrated chameleon ever. Of course water and hydration is absolutely necessary in digestion of food, and the apsortion of nutrients, and so a severly dehydrated, but well fed chameleon may possibly show the same signs.

Brian, you camera seems to like to bleach photos when flash is used, doesn't it. Give this a try, take a tissue and tape it over the flash, this should diffuse the flash a bit.

thanks man. Yeah so I just got Rocky like that a couple days ago. I've seen alot of pics on websites of chameleons having that eye look. I've been leaving his dripper on for more than a few hours at a time.. and have been misting him atleast 6 times a day. He's a good eater, just havn't seen him drink from the dripper yet.

I'll post more pics after he's been misted well enough! thanks

Our veiled cham, fat Guido, has been well hydrated. But he didn't start to flesh-out his casque and cheeks until he became overweight, which lends credence to Will's thoughts that those areas fill with fat, or fat and fluid perhaps, rather than just fluid. Now that GUido has lost 25g, the first superficial sign we are seeing is a flattening of the sides of his casque and decrease in cheek bulge.
