Hello everybody! I had another thread going about my set up. Now that I have my new Vieled Chamaeleon home I want to make sure everything is OK.

He is acting a little weird. As I thought he would getting used to everything. When I open the cage he goes to the back up top. Now that we have left him alone he is venturing around slowly exploring. The basking is around 93 and the cool area is only getting down to 81. I’m worried it’s not getting cool enough. I’ve covered the are with foliage blocked the light and still warm. Should I rase the light? Any tips or things I should or shouldn’t do?

I live in Tucson Arizona and have a swamp cooler so it’s been fun you could say.

Raise the light a few inches and then leave him alone for the next week or two. Your only interaction with him should be hand feeding, if he won’t eat from your hand then use a cup, and misting.

Thank you so much! I got that up off the cage. He’s been doing really good though. He is in the corner napping I believe. I’m wondering if his breeder had an early start time for the lights. He did really good eating from chopsticks so I’m hoping he will be just as good with my hand tomorrow. Will the cup work for while I’m working?

What do you mean napping? Healthy chams don’t take naps...

I did, being that he just went through the trauma of being adopted I wouldn’t worry much unless this behavior continues for a week or more.

And by the way that Cham is not 1 month old, judging from the one pic I’d say 5-6 months at least.
