Just got my first chameleon!

Cage is pretty nicely set up, but she is a dark color and is hiding in the back of the cage. Is this normal? Should i just let her be and keep food in at all times? Because I tried to hand feed her and she got scared and turned around.

She will probably take about a week or so to get used to her cage so the dark colours are normal.
How old she?

Don't keep insects in with her at night incase they decide to have a nibble.
My cham won't take food from my hand either yet so I just cup feed him.

Big hands are scary to little chams so she just needs to get used to you

My cage is 18x18x30. Reptisun 5.0 UVN and basking. I have a Hibiscus and a grape vein. Basking is around 88 and and general temp is around 79. Nighttime is 70. She is a veiled female around 4 months.

i'd drop the basking temps a few degrees, i believe females should be kept around 85, 87 at the max

She looks great now! She is upside down in her cage chasing after crickets. She is a bright green. The only thing I am confused about is I have had the lights off for about 2 hours now and she still has lots of energy.

glad she is starting to get more used to her new home.
Give her another day or two to sleep better. She must have been hungry.

In time she will be normal...they all need a few days to fully settle in.

Sorry about all the questions. I am just really nervous I am not doing enough for her.

She will probably spend alot of time upside lol,
My cham definately does, he loves the mesh!

I was nervous too when I first got mine as I think lots were but you'll get into the swing of things soon :)

She just needs a bit of time to settle in, i wouldn't keep food in her viv since crickets like to have a nibble. Mine feeds from my hand, she will soon enough. Just let her come around. As for the sleeping upside down my mia doesn't do it but some cams do. My friends does. Good luck with her. Oh what you called her?
