I just got back from picking up my new veiled chameleon. He is younger than I expected. The breeder said he is about 3 weeks. He is TEENY! I thought I had read on here that they don't need a basking light when they are this little, that just the uvb light will do. Please advise which is the right way to do lighting for such a little guy. Also, do I need to do anything different with supplementing/humidity. I want to make sure everything is just right. Thanks!

Three weeks is very young. It depends on your temps but in my home we only use uvb. Yor supplimenting will be almost the same I give babies cal without d3 every other day and with d3 twice a month and multivitamin twice a month.that's my veileds and panthers other species are quite a bit different just wondering why you didn't get that info from the breeder I give care info with all my chams

He told me about the supplementing and gave me the uvb bulb and fixture, I just wanted to double check. I always see so many differing opinions and suggestions. I want to get as much info as I can. I just want to know anything different that I need to do due to his age. I really expected him to be older. I feel pretty confident, though. I have done my research and right now he is happy in his new cage...exploring and getting warmed up from the ride home.

Congratulations. As far as a basking light, that really depends on what the room temperature is and the type of housing (screen cage, exo terra, etc.)

Did the seller tell you about misting?

Yeah I knew about misting and I saw him drink a couple of times this evening after we got home.
