Just got my chameleon i dont know if she ate today maybe so since some of the crickets are gone from her cage but would i be able to witness her drinking? because i have yet to see that i have a bowl of water and i spray the cage twice a day the bowl of water is being heated by the heat lamp hopefuly creating more humidity but i havent seen her drink yet and i need to make a dripper if any1 can give me a diy dripper would greatly appreciate that i will get a pic of my setup

lose the bowl and make a dripper :)

The water is good for bacteria and the heat lamp will help it grow faster. I suggest using the "Search" button because there is a lot of great info.

Heres my DIY dripper

You need to experiment with the size of the hole in the cap. I made it too big the first time and it was more of a fountain, so just use your finger tip to push it back together to make it small if you need to. Also, poke a larger hole in the top of the bottle that I have in the third picture.

so as i stated im new to this whole thing i took a picture of my cham and my setup not profesional for any stretch of the truth please if you have any wisdom i am all ears

You're going to need a vertical, all-screen cage at some point. Also, you don't need any substrate-all that really does is speed up the growth of bacteria and stuff. One last thing-you might want to replace the plastic plant with a live one. Here's why-veiled chameleons are omnivorous and she might try eating the plants, which can make her sick.

you need to change your enclosure immediatly to a screen\mesh enclosure..the lighting needs to be lifted up off the top of the cage, take the bark out..it needs to be much larger as well like a 100 gal sized (i usually have huge caging tho)...and you need to get the linear or "tube" lighting as well as just one basking lamp of generally lowe wattage.. others will chime in......

Thank you how do i go about planting one? just get a vertical mesh or wire cage and put a potted plant in it with a big dripper that wil fal on the leaves and somehow get a misting machine?

Oh good so many people willing to help i love this community its a heating lamp and the UV is from petsmart the girl recomended 5.0 26watt for the UVB 75watt sunglo exoterra heating lamp

you can buy a standard spray bottle from walmart, or a pressurized one even (pump it a few times then just hold the trigger down to spray a fine constant mist untill you pump it again)..as for the cage..go to a pet shop, you may even find a used mesh enclosure..take it home clean the crap out of it with warm water and a lil antibacterial dish detergent and a small capfull of vinegar and the scrubby side of a sponge)..as for the potted plant, yes get a ficus that goes to around the top of the enclosure, like say 7-8 inches away..get a few of those fake vines you have and spread them around the back top corners of the new large mesh cage..place the lamps above the top of the cage so they are not touching the mesh (hang them from a nail from the wall, put blocks under them, whatever, dont let them touch the mesh it could burn your cham if he\she can reach it)..as for the plant..keep it in the pot, place it in the cage, add some bendable vines, some sticks (if from outside, throughly clean them..ive done this : scrub them down good, while you scrub them boil a big pot of water..once you have rinsed them run the boiled water over them, then allow to air dry)..also get the tube lighting "5.0 uvb" and just get a house style soft white 60 watt bulb for basking...(for that tiny aquarium i wouldnt have more than a 20 watt in that light)

hope that helps and doesent make you feel discouraged..

you will do fine once your set up is just tweeked a lil bit

ok just saw yer last post after i replied..the 75 watt is waaaay to hot for that small aquarium...also the other bulb has been known to cause blindness in reptiles..i wouldnt use it..they scare me..lift your lights from the top of it and you will be "ok" for the next day er so till you can situate stuff.

You will also need to replant the plant in Organic potting soil and put rocks on top of the potted plants soil after you replant the plant to keep your Cham from eating the soil. Also you will need to wash off your new plant under warm water and if you got some Veggie wash thats what I sprayed on mine to clean it and I rinsed really well.

+1 !! and i forgot also: make sure you put the drip down real slow, and you can use a cup to catch the excess water, otherwise you will overwater the plant..or make a drainage system like some have on here..not to difficult to make

Hello and welcome to the forums. Congrats on your new little cutie! :) I keep veileds and made a blog out of the info that I provided to people that got one of my veiled babies. The info in my blog has work great for me. If you use it on your little one she should be very healthy. The second link is for the care of a female cham which you will need to know in a few months.

yes 75 watt in that encloser is going to cook that cham, you to change the eclosure asap and untill then maybe 20-40w bulb if that, the exo-terra cfl 5.0 i belive are fine for the most part but i would switch to a linear style uvb as well, try to fill out the how to ask for help for asap and as accurattly as possible, jann has a blog for new keepers i will go try and find it, it has all the info to get you going on the right track

hahaha thats what happens when you take 5 min to type a post lol

Yea the only problem i have with the dripping this is wherw ill the excess water go shoud i always have the dripper with water dont let it go out ( i will be using plastic bottles) should i use those pot pans that when the pot the plant is in is overwaterd it goes to the pan?

I cried a little. That cham is saying "Help me." Not your fault in anyway. I'm sure you'll have everything up to par in the future with the help from everyone on here. Be sure to clean everything and anything you put near or in the cage. If your going for live plants...get one from Tiki tiki reptiles as theirs are organic and perfectly safe for your veiled. I'm glad you decided to ask for advise bc you just saved your chameleon! You can use shallow cups as long as it can get out of it, so it doesn't drown.

ok there are a few things i see right off the bat.
for new lil one you are handleing alot maybe too much
the crickets need to be gutloaded better than org, cube search it
you need to only use calcium with d3 once or twice a month, and just plain calcium at most feedings as well as a multivitamin once or twice a month
you need to know the temps and humidty and the acceptable ranges. look at the info from jann.
i would turn off the basking light untill u are able to get a larger enclosure or at least know the temp.

jmo sorry if its short
