Just got this little guy two days ago, the first day he was eating a bit but hasn't touched his food too much, very lazy and sleeping during the day at some points. He's drinking alot of water though, I know it could just be stress but I just wanted to be sure he was alright and if this behavior is normal for a cham his age. Here's some pics of him and his enclosure.

Congratulations on your baby. From Europe to Miami is a very long way to be shipped. You say he is drinking which is a good sign. I would say he is probably stressed and needs to be left alone for the next few weeks to settle. Make sure he has plenty places to hide. Offer food as normal and hopefully he will settle down. Bring his temp down to 84.:)

I am just curious why you chose to buy a chameleon from Europe when their are tons of breeders here in the US? Yes, the shipping and the stress can take its toll on these little ones. Sleeping during the day, is not a good sign and not normal behavior either incase you are not aware of this. I would take the cage outside and get him some good old fashion sunshine. It is the best thing for them. Just make sure he is not out for too long to overheat and he has shade provided while he is outside. If he is hot, he will open his mouth up. I would bring him in if he starts doing this. That size cage can be easily picked up and carried outside. I did it with mine when they were babies.

I hope it was overnight shipping at least...

Anyway, I'm with Carol, if you take the little guy outside so he can get some fresh air and sunshine then he may perk up. On the other hand, try not to move him around too much, as that'll scare him some too and the point is to get him used to his surroundings

Ok well he was eating yesterday a bit and and he's still drinking a lot of water. My only concern is the whole day sleeping thing. I took him outside today and he wore very light happy colors, very active as well :) as soon as he's back inside he wanders a bit then shuts his eyes. Could it be too bright for him since it's a clamp lamp? (40 watt) Or just the stress? When I open my blinds on a sunny day his temp is at, 80-85 could I shut of his basking light then? Sorry for all these questions I just want to make sure my little guy is ok and healthy.
