I'm new to all this Chameleon stuff, so I was spraying into the cage to bring the humidity up and I noticed that my Chameleon opened his mouth of very wide, I didn't know if this was a sign to leave him be or was he just drinking I have no idea.

He was probably gaping at you. My little guy does it if I approach him, and he gets nervous.

He could have either been gapping at you to go away, or he was yawning

What was his coloration like at the time? If he was gaping he'd probably start to show stress coloration - different than his resting colors. If he was yawning, it looks just like that - gaping their mouth usually stays open longer. Were you spraying right at him, or just on the leaves and around him? Good luck with your new guy!

Like the other guys said, it could be either one of the cases. If he just oppened his mouth really wide and then close it right away he was probably just yawning.
