Jungle sounds in my living room (pointless, fun thread)

I could go on..... I'll stop right now unless people are interested in knowing more about why I hate common sense....

He he he.... how do you explain that to the inlaws?

The dubias i assume.. Well they don't know and when they visit they move about the bin and have nooo clue!! The wife is not too fond of them and tells me all the time " if i everrrr see one loose, just one!! it's all overrr!!"..

I honestly think i have a problem. The more i research an animal, the more i want it!!

Right now im in the process of obtaining some Geckos and i'm considering re-homing my Umbrella Cockatoo to a family member that has a bit more room between neighbors. She has just become a bit too loud when not in the company of someone. That and she sees me as her mate and will try to attack anyone why gets close to me, not too good when you have a 4 year old and a 2 year old. But i love large social birds, i'm considering a Green Aracari

Ha ha I've gotten the same Dubia warning which makes it really hard feed. I'm so paranoid I'd drop one the my cham senses that and is very apprehensive. (I normally hand feed)

By the way, nobody should underestimate exactly how dangerous an Umbrella Cockatoo can be! I've actually considered getting a male for my daughter. Once he bonds to her he would never hurt her but anyone who comes close would be in a world of hurt no guard dog can replicate! Growing up we had an Umbrella we had to get rid of because he kept sending the cats to the vet and was getting aggressive towards the kids.

Oh God, don't get me started on my common sense rant..... I'll leave it at that. All I have to say is if you spend any time studying modern physics, you will toss the idea of common sense right out the window pretty dang quick (oh crud, I started.... better stop now....)

You make a good point, but it depends on how you define 'common sense' - in this instance it seems to be understanding that keeping a cornsnake is a responsibility you don't actually want, but you like the idea of it. I would call that common sense.
It may have meant 'not falling for mums reverse psychology' - in which case it also makes sense to call it common sense :)

Yeeeeeeahhhhh.... I was in a very bad mood when I wrote most of that.... Then again I did not say anything I have not said while in a good mood...

You are right, depends on what you mean by common sense. That in and of itself presents problems, hard to get a decent definition going. I guess my thing is- given a more or less colloquial understanding of the term, "common sense"- no matter how you cut it, is deeply rooted in very big assumptions. Es no bueno!
I have no problems with "common sense", until you use it an excuse to not have to think. I have family members who use common sense as their argument for everything from why the President (at a given time) is doing a bad job to why Global warming is a myth. Science never enters the discussion because scientists do not have any common sense (clearly). They why they believe in such stupid stuff as Global warming and cigarettes causing cancer.

Gets under my skin.

In an ideal world, people would be taught HOW to think in school, not WHAT to think. Unfortunately, this is not the modus operandi of American education. We are all about a chicken mcnugget style of pre-processed, regurgitated, full of preservatives and filler, thought.
