How come my photo keeps disappearing? Also, wasn't the theme water not drinking? I have uploaded my photo to the photo contest gallery twice now and both have disappeared.

Tomorrow is the last day to enter the June photo contest. Photos must follow this month's theme. Entries that did not meet the theme or size/ratio requirements have been removed.

Comparing the original size of each image can help and is recommended. Photos should not only be judged by the chameleon displayed, but also on composition and image quality.

Did you upload a pardalis or calyptratus pic ? If not your chances are anyway very very small ;)

I agree, I guess I should have took more pics of my Veileds and Panthers instead of my Montium....

I know some of these would be hard to do but... Maybe a few DIFFERENT themes to think about:

NO PANTHERS

NO VEILEDS

Best enclosure

Best Free range

Hatch-lings only

Best horns

Mellers only

Parson only

Triceros only

Pygs only

Kinyonga only

Cham food pics only (insect pics)

best Cham on a person

Funniest cham

No. It's just better to let the people enjoy pardalis and calyptratus. Others are uninteresting. So the next themes should be:

-female calyptratus
-male calyptratus
-the next five months different pardalis localities
-chameleon with the cutest name

Sometimes the usal is just better.

Btw: Next month I will try it with a pardalis picture. Maybe I will then have a chance to get user votes not only some of judges

From my experience judging the contest for 5 years, species has little influence on outcome. If anything, I think a more rare or unique species has the advantage if the quality of photos are equal. This is a photo contest, and not a chameleon contest. Photo quality and composition are very important. It is true that more veileds and panthers win compared to other species, but of course these are the most popular chameleons in captivity.

And also the most entered I think.... turning out a higher percentage of wins.

I entered a ton of times before winning any contest... all you can do is ask 'what can i do better next time?' not 'what kind of cham will win?'

I see your point. I guess since a lot of people have Panthers and Veileds, more pictures go in. I am curious to see what other themes will be.

You guys act as though there is some conspiracy. If the photo meets the requirements, is a good photo, and gets votes, then it stands a chance.

Maybe you missed the two parsonii, melleri, tavetana, and goetzei...

5/12 chams not being veileds or panthers.... not bad.

I think there are two possible winners in that group of five... if not a win, a good possible 2nd or 3rd place.

No I don't think so  My main problem is that even highly average pics of those two species get much votes. Well it's the decision of personal like / dislike and we don't live in North Korea but this makes the contest very lame. If there's a pardalis male which shows just the normal coloration and it's in shape I can tell you even before that it will end up at least in the top 5

I've learnt from it and I know now that there's no chance to win with a uthmoelleri or oweni picture - they have just not enough color to win

I feel that a lot of members would vote on an "ok" panther pic over a "great" Jackson or Meller pic just because of the panthers colors or because that is the species they keep. I feel it would be way more fair for other species if all the voter aren't biased to 2 species. Its like asking Celtics fans to vote for the Lakers. As always there are 2 strong sides to the argument but I don't see why there are never any "major" themes.

Im not sure why people think otherwise. This has certainly been my experience also over the last couple years - the best photos have won, showing a number of species.

Yea, I will vote for the best photo, regardless of what chameleon is in it. It's possible that in a month when someone considers all the photos so-so they might vote for the prettiest chameleon, but I think that's probably a minority.

As soon as I get my good camera I'm going to include photos of my Jackson's, and see what happens lol Lets test the "conspiracy" theory!
