Jumping Jehoshaphat!

I was much surprised when my little cham leaped off of my hand onto my bed while I was trying to take pictures of him today. It was actually a jump and he propelled himself forward quite well, fortunately no harm came as it was a soft landing and the drop was not very far. I didn't think they were capable of jumping, I thought that was the premise behind cages like the chameleon condo? I like the idea behind chameleon condos but they seem to get mixed reviews and if the animal is capable of escaping then I certainly wouldn't use them. Also, any suggestions on how to desensitize him to the camera, I pulled it out a couple of days ago while he was in his cage and he puffed up, started hissing, kept lunging forward and trying to bite the camera even though it was several feet away. Today outside of his cage he jumped off my hand and ran for the hills.

I think they either tolerate the camera or they don't but I think it gets better with time. When mine was very young he would puff up if I got close but never tried to attack the camera. lol! Now, it doesn't even phase him to take pictures. I can get up real close and it doesn't even bother him. Don't really have any tips other than to stand back and zoom in but you said you were a few feet away and he didn't like that either. I think once again, it is a personality thing, and some mind it and some don't.

I been taking pics of mine since I got him about a month ago. he really has calmed down for the camera as I am guessing he got used to this black box in his face once in a while.

Found out how to take pictures of him without him getting upset!

Nice...

Found out how to take pictures of him without him getting upset!

I like this one... I alwasy love to see thier little tails curled up!

Just take it slow with the camera like Carol said I think it just depends on thier personality they are all so different.

I got my guy today and was not going to try to get any pics unless I could do it from afar and not be intrusive but he seemed ok with it so I got some and then left it alone the rest of the day even though it was tempting to keep going! LOL.... I had to show him respect!

Glad you finally got a great pic with out him bullying the camera! LOL!!!

Looking forward to more when you can snatch them...
