Jenkinsons Aquarium in Southern NJ

So I went to the aquarium today down at the Jersey shore with my family. Its called Jenkinson's Aquarium. I noticed they have a Adult Panther Chameleon in their jungle section. It was in a TINY 8inch by 8inch by maybe 18inch high cage. I felt so bad for him. I also did not notice any dripper.

I complained to the staff and also just wrote an email to the aquarium.

Hopefully they do something about it.

Did you attach a "neutral" caresheet or other info as well? That way it doesn't sound like just your personal opinion, but accepted practice. Also, often zoos put animals on display for a short period (like part of a day at a time) in what they tend to call "jewelbox exhibits" that are not their permanent housing. They might have better quarters for him behind the scenes. Not that I would approve such a thing, but that might be what they intended to do. Good for you for commenting though!

I've seen it too. I'm hoping that hole in the wall is smaller compared to the actual cage size. Did the staff comment on what you said?

It's not a rescue unless you take the animal away from the store/breeder without letting them gain from it in any way. If you bought it, it would just be supporting a crappy store and encouraging them to do it again. If you got it for free, you would just be opening up space for a new one to sell and treat terribly.

It's not a store. It's an Aquarium with animals on display.

According to their website they are accredited by the The Association of Zoos & Aquariums. One hopes that means they understand basic chameleon care and that they appreciate it when a guest points out an apparent problem with their care. I'd tend to think it is a "jewel box" display.
