Poor, lonely Janet jacksonii jacksonii....she was born in my back yard 26 months ago and I've never been able to find her a boyfriend until now.

Finally, more came in! I just brought home her new boyfriend, Randy jacksonii jacksonii from my local shop who ordered him in for me. I immediately gave him a hour-plus shower and he's settling in for a nice San Diego night outdoors. But, that's why he's so dark rather than showing the brilliant yellow and blues from when he was in the sun.

That's great, Kent. Ours came in looking pretty good, too. Your boy looks BIG. Nice horns, too. Has Janet gotten a peek at him yet?

P.S.- your photos are a little big.

Fantastic news, Kent. That female is gorgeous-- and the new male looks fine, too.

I hope you get a chance to update this thread with their progress-- photographically-speaking and otherwise!

Cheers!

Sorry about the photo size. I was excited and still busy running around after getting home from work. Glad to hear yours look good, Sandy. I haven't intentionally let them see each other yet but they're outside about 4 feet away from each other. I'll get some more pics of him tomorrow when it's more sunny than late this afternoon...and scale them down. He's really got some neat blues and vivid yellow side-blotch.

Awesome Kent! I love Meru's! Exciting stuff.

I am curious what temps your Meru's are tolerating in your backyard? Do you take extra steps aside from misting and shading to keep them cool, and do you find yourself having to move them indoors at all? I wanted to keep some outside here but was worried about the warmth.

if you get babies >.>

yes i practically will do anything..ANYTHING!..

Awsome man, congrats and im super jealous.

Hey Joe, I do keep an eye on the weather reports every morning during the summer to know when the really hot days are coming. I'm only a few blocks from the ocean so the temps stay much more mild here. When it goes into the upper 80's I cover the top of the cage with a piece of cardboard for the day. I really only bring them inside when the temps go below 40F in the winter.

Thanks everyone!

Good looking couple, Kent. I was wondering if you have any problems with raccoons when you leave them out at night?

Hi, Tylene. I've never had problems with wild animals and my chams, knock on wood. For the last three years the place I lived in had all sorts of wildlife around and under it. I know I had skunks going through my backyard frequently. Whenever I leave any of the chams outside overnight, the cages are raised off the ground except for the one in this pic with the strong wire mesh.
