Jackson's Chameleon question

Hi all,

Can we house a couple (male+female) of Jackson's together? With dense foliage, of course...
I've been investigating in the net and the opinions are rather divergent.

current informal 'research' says a big NO.

i have several male and female jax and by mistake had a situation where one male and one female could see eachother (side by side cages) i kept wondering why the female AND male weren't eating as much, seemed a bit smaller than my others, were always hiding - until one day i took one cage off the counter and realized that the side they shared hadn't been visually blocked. once i blocked it (w/ styrofoam sheeting) there was a change in both of their behavior, for the better.

i have heard both opinions. my attempt lasted 16 hours. my female totally stressed out and would not eat. i would second ( posted to slow Third) no.

it is so much easier to evaluate health diet and stool in seperate cages as well

Unless you had a really large enclosure it would not be a good idea. I have run into too many difficulties with keeping them in the same care. they always compete for the prime spots in the cage. etc.

and like some one also said already it's harder to observe things like eating and poop, which may give you early indications of problems and well being.

All in all the whole situation will lead to unneeded stress on your chams and ultimately shorten their lives.
