Jackson's Chameleons live up to the 12 year area so if you raised them for a while they too can become family members just like other pets. Most people think that because they are small you can't bond with them like cats & dogs. This is false, they don't need a cage & are intelligent in their own right and have individual personalitys as well as communication skills. Anyway they may be small but they can discern what is edible and what is not. We should not limit the diet but make wider varieties in it. This includes crickets, mealworms, grass roaches (of all kind), big flying roaches, darkling beetle's, spiders, centipedes, silkworms, flys, and more unknown.
P.s. I do not advise anyone to close to any of these that could cause you the owner any harm whatsoever
P.s.s. This is not including the vast amount of food in the wild.
