first she'll get really hungry and fat, then she will probably turn dark or blotchy colored, then in the last month its not uncommon for them to get anxious really easy (often displayed by side to side dancing)and sort of unsteady on her feet, really skidish and picky of her food, and she may stop eating all together, here is a picture of mom about 4+ mnths into her term , she gave birth 06-29-09 sorry for the poor color rendition (since you are new , you can see a larger image just by clicking on the thumbnail) ps welcome to cf
Thank you for the welcome!! I have been browsing around here for about 2 hrs non stop tonite! lots of interesting info! VERY glad I found this place!!!! My jackson "Jackie" I have aquired fairly recent. I live in Hawaii....therefore she was aquired in the wild! Actually my boyfriend almost ran her over on the road, so he "rescued her"?!?!?! Anyway, I love having her ( I say her because she has no horns). She is approx 4" from nose to tail base. From the time we got her (about 6-7 weeks ago) she has been a very good eater & drinker! I did not know that they only ate every 2-3 days, so I was feeding her every day. She was eating 4-5 crickets/grasshoppers, occasionally 1-2 mealworms, and somedays flies. She always ate all! Now as for the cage, I no that apparently I have the wrong thing so I will be working to change that! She is currently in a aqarium with screen cover. It is right in front of a window that is left open all the time so the breeze can circulate air. She gets some morning sun. Half of the cage side facing the window is covered so she has shade. We have taken her outside and let her wander in the yard (supervised) a couple of times. She seemed to like it, trying to catch flies that land on the grass. Her color mostly is bright green, sometimes looking green and black blotchy.
My concern is that she has kinda stopped eating! Its been 5 days now!!! She drinks water, does nt look like shes getting thin, walks around her cage some. I noticed a couple of times her stopping to rock side to side as she walks. Her color is still the same bright green, occassionally darker green with black blotches. I have tried to vary her food, but she still wont eat! VERY worried! Can anyone give me ideas on what they think the problem is? I do not have any lighting on her cage, being that I live in Hawaii and she gets morning sun for a while then indirect light. As for humidity....thinking its pretty much very humid here all the time. As for temp, very tropical weather. I am thinking of an outdoor cage to hang in an area that will also get that warming morning sun. Any response greatly appreciated. Thank you!!!!
