My chameleon is acting weird and i was just wondering if you know why. Normally he starts sleeping when it gets dark and recently he hasn't been opining his eyes at all even when I handle him. He has a red blood like substance on the rim of his mouth...... I also noticed that his saliva is thick (not sure if thats normal).Pleas help.

I don't know anything about Jackson Chameleons but I'm sure if you fill out the sheet with all of your information someone will help you.

Pictures are helpful

Thick saliva can be a sign of a respiratory infection. The blood around the mouth could be an injury of possibly mouthrot. Is you cahmeleon making noises when he breathes?. holding his head up in the air? mouth open? Eyes closed during the day hours is not a good sign.

Definitely sound like a respiratory infection to me. Plus something else :/.

Please post some photos and fill in the "how to ask for help" information that was provided for you. Its best to take the chameleon to an exotics vet...but another vet might be able to help in a pinch.

a vet who has dealt with chameleons is best but if you find one who specializes in birds it can do for a quick trip.
