It's too Tall and I'm too Short

If I have my male panther in a cage that's 24x24x48 inches do I still need to set that cage on a table? I know the higher the better, but if I put it on a table I can't reach the top of the cage. I'd have to climb on a ladder and turn on the light fixture since the switch is on it and not on the cord. That would be real inconvenience to do daily since I have a balance issue and a bad knee.
It was hard enough to find a table that could hold a cage with a 24 inch base. Frankly, this big cage has been royal pain.
Help!

why don't you put your lights on a timer and then you don't have to turn on the switch! I definitely wouldn't leave it on the ground though. JMO

lol!

Hip hip horay for us shorties!!!! :p

I have my lights on a timer & thats what I would have suggested to you. I am waiting for my large cages to arrive to make the switch and I too am hoping I will manage with my "shortness"..... lol!:p

hey, i'm 5'9" and i have my lights on a timer...
Stanley's cage is 48" high and sitting on top of a 32" tall stand. i got tired of dragging the kitchen table chair over to turn them on and off..... :)
as for the dripper... i still have to drag over the chair... ;)

Not at all laziness! It's brilliant to use a timer. No pun intended...

yeah for me its really the only way that he gets regulated "day" lengths because im always out and about or doing something. At least this way I don't have to worry about being home at 8pm to turn his lights off, or likewise, being home at 8am to turn them on - all the animals in my house are on timers!

Maybe it's just me being a worry-wart when it comes to certain things, but does anybody worry about having the lights on when nobodys home? Like, as a fire hazzard...if there a short in the wiring or something.

Well, there is always a possibility, but if you use known brand light fixtures like a heat dome lamp with a household bulb, and a fixture specifically meant for the linear uvb tube, then the posssbility decreases, plus it also depends on where the setup is located, and away from water other than mistings in the cage, and proper drainage....

plus if you r out, then have a timer on the lights, less worry IMO:cool:

We have our lights and mister on a timer. I'm still waiting to get a step stool because I'm short too. They are definitely needed when changing the bulbs haha.
