Im not sure why but the past two nights he is laying in his light relaxing and when its lights out he gets darrrk like alomst black stripes and walks fast with a hunched back almost like hes stomping away and mad at me. i did upset him when i tested my limites of putting my hand twords him and ever since then he as so nervous around me and thats understandable but why is he going to bed all in a fuss

I got him less then a week ago and i tried to pick him up (put my hand closer than normal) and he did not like it. He is still getting used to everything and was ok with me at first but i think i upset him and not hes a little nervous when i mess with his cage (feeding, cleaning up) i will try to film him tonight on it. Im not sure if its because its too dark or what it is. I just turn off the lights and dont make any other movements. He is basking when its lights off though and gos to sleep after i turn them off

Here are 2 pics i got of him when it was lights out. I turned my room light on to get them and they are not the best. But this waa the first night he did it.(it has been 2 nights already)

The problem I sse here is u only have him for short period of the time,and it will take some time for him to get used to his new cage along with his new owner,u will have to give him time to adjust,read his body language,dont create any sudden move with him,he is going to be there for good,let him get to see u more as not a threat to him,and this requires "Time"to achieve the result.

One more suggestion,plz add some horizontal brances in his cage,so he wont have to worry stand vertically on the fake plant falling and swing like a monkey.

I got a new vine that in going to add so that should help with his mobility! I definitely agree with you. Im learning as i go and just by watching him. Plus the help from everyone on here.

Yeah i agree. Patience is key and i know in time it will help.i know everything is so new to him.

I agree with alphakenc that you need to give the lil guy a lot more time. Chameleons seem to be fairly stress-prone animals, and they can take a few weeks or months before they adapt fully to a new schedule or place. Give it time. If he's still seeming stressed out at lights out in 2 weeks, post again.

And alphakenc is right, you need to get some horizontal stuff going on in that cage. They've evolved to be efficient BRANCH predators, not vine predators. It doesn't look like it's sufficiently easy to get around that cage, and everything that isn't easy to get to is essentially wasted space.

Thats very true. I want him to get around and be as stress free as possible so i think i will set up my horizontal branches and let him get used to me. I already love him so much i just hate seeing him stressed and want to do everything in my power to make him have a good home. Thank you guys so much for the advice i really do appreciate it. Ill have to post some updated pics when i get him completely set up.
