well hello everyone,

I noticed twice now that my little cham has been rubbing his left eye on the little fave vine i have in his terrarium. everytime he does it he puffes it out really big and its kinda red but when he stops his eye looks completly fine. anyone know what could be the cause/reason for doing this?

Chameleons do that when something is in their eye or anything like that. Sometimes when you mist them you will see them doing that I think its to clean their eyes.

Just make sure he is not keeping his eye(s) permanently puffed out all the time and check to see that his eyes are open all the time.

There is the 'How to ask for help' page please fill that out so a Pro can help you.

Having read your other thread, you said your little guy has just finished his first shed with you. Have you any experience with chams shedding? They shed the skin around their eyes as well and this can be very annoying for them, they rub their eyes against plants/vines/mesh to help remove this skin. Poor things. He could have some retained skin that didnt come off. Keep an eye on it. Increase your misting for a few days and see how he is if the eye looks normal to you :)

For future reference, you could increase your misting leading up to and during his next shed to help some :D

I really enjoyed seeing the snaps of your Charlie, great name, and great colours... my room is the same teal sort of colour.

ya his eyes are always open and he looks extremly healthy :) but he could be trying to get skin off. he did it about a day or two before he shed and then he shed yesterday and did it this morning after i misted him so maybe he had water in his eye. and yes the blue room "hence why i got a nosy be" :)

my cham does that if he gets water in his eye during misting, but it doesn't seem to bother him because he'll keep on drinking.

ya he did it a bit after i misted him and i havent seen him do it since even after more mistings so hopefully it was just that :)

My chem did that for several days. After about a week to a week in a half it became infected and I had to treat it with antibiotics.
