Is this plant safe for my veiled chameleon?

I'm at the store and unsure if this plant is safe for my chameleon to have in his enclosure. I checked with the safe plant list and an umbrella plant (schefflera) was on it but I wanted to double check with you guys

Put some dish soap in the handle of your garden hose nozzle and spray the plant (holding it upside down) until the water no longer looks soapy. When the white fluffs are gone and the plant smells of only plant, it is then dubbed
"ok to use"

I suggest green apple as it is easier to tell when the smell is gone. Maybe my sense of apples is abnormal, however they sure are quite delicious either way.

Dish soap? Really? Haha jus strikes me as odd, but okay >.< jus want to make sure it's not poisonous as well

I always re-pot my plants in organic soil and wash them off too.
