Free Range

Yes! ....and why not? In my opinion, and not anything based on years of research, years or raising Chameleon, or any other scientific knowledge, anytime your Chameleon is out of the cage, the better. My Jackson loves to be out of his cage. He walks around and climbs everything. I know Chameleons are very solitary creatures, but my Jackson always wants to come out of his cage and run around. The great thing is, I don't even have to force him. All I do is hold out my hand. If he climbs on, I let him out of his cage and take him to his play area. If he doesn't climb onto my hand, I just leave him alone. It's as simple as that. I caught my chameleon in the funniest of places. Just remember, they're arboreal so they like to climb to the highest places, so I would even think about buying some safe mini trees and connect vines and stuff to it. Keep the plants that you have, but if you chameleon is looking at your knees, he gonna want to keep climbing higher.

All in all.... Great start!

Love it! Personally I would set up some lights and keep him there full time, this is what I do for mine, he is NEVER caged. Right now he has my whole screen porch to himself and rules the house in the winter. My cats and dog stay out of his way.

It this going to be for part time when you are around to watch?

I have lights that go around it and all that jazz. and yes i am usually around when they are in it. they seem to love it. and even if i do walk away i check on them a lot. they seem to stay mid range to higher. they have never climbed down or tried to get away from it and they do love climbing on the window screens as well. which is great light for them.

is it bad if i dont watch them 24/7 when there on it??

and to the second post. thanks. they love being on it and climbing around it. its live trees and natural branches. also including deer antlers. :)

thanks. i live in an apartment though. so i couldn't feed them other then hand feeding without having a possible bug invasion. lol. i do have lights that i set up on it when there in it. but there also there cage lights. so they filter back and forth :)

I live in an apartment too, I cup feed my boy, sometimes I just leave the cup there for him if I have to run.

I agree. If it's going to be full time then you will need lights. :)
