My cham has never had this black spot.. i have no idea what it could be. A parasite? a burn? just weird coloration? it has stayed this way for about 3 days now.

The lamps sit on top of the cage, so they are close enough to burn. I just bought a new bulb for one of the fixtures also. Do you think she just didn't realize that she was burning? she has never had this spot, or anything like it before. How can i tell if its a bruise?

They don't realize they are burning like that because of the way they feel pain (or something along those lines. I don't remember the specifics.) It looks like a burn. Burns tend to be gray and sometimes different shades of gray. Bruises tend to be one color and darker in my experience.

what can i do to treat the burn? should i just rush her to the vet? and do i need to go ahead and turn her lights off, so it wont get worse?

Start by finding somewhere new for the light fixture, further away from the cage, or (if you can) lower the output for your heat lamp. I'm not sure about burn treatment, but Neosporin never hurts

Definitely elevate the lights. Neosporin can't hurt, but I would take her to the vet and ask about silver sulfadiazine. That stuff worked wonders on my cham, cleared them up really fast. But his burns weren't nearly that big.

dang it! i feel soooo bad for her now! i had no idea! any ideas on how to elevate the light? its just a dome that sits on top of the cage.. i actually have some silvadene from a burn that i had! can i really use it on her? what if she somehow eats it?

also, how do i move this post into the health clinic?

It's okay don't feel bad. I bought a lamp stand from Petsmart. Yes I believe you can. She won't ingest if if you do a light coating on the affected area. Just keep an eye on it.

Not sure how to move a post thought, sorry.

Np, oh and hardware stores and some other stores have hanger things that you could hang it from the ceiling. They look like little hooks

the top of the cage doesnt have any where to put a light at all... i will look at ways to hang a light, i just hate to have wires hanging in the air :/ but if it helps, i'll do it! thank so much for being so helpful!

You can just put something on the top of the cage and set the lamp on top of it. Use something that doesn't conduct a lot of heat. 3 coffee cups would work. Cups from a child's tea set would be even better because they wouldn't drastically alter your temps (being small).

If there is no way for you to hang the lamp away from the cage, change your bulb to a lower watts one and move the branches/plants away from the heat source.

If u can't find something to put under the lights ,just lower the branch about 4 inches away from the heat source. My veiled burned the top of his head the same way I felt so bad . It's never going to happen again . I put neo sporin on it .apply it very lightly a very light film of it so it will heal faster. Good luck

I don't know how u feel about ur ceiling but i use decorative hook made for ceilings and ran a chain with a hook holding the light. (hook holding the light so I can easily move the light up or down the chain to adjust depending on the weather that day) :)
