So I noticed murph usually has his dark colors on when in his cage (hes a veiled) but when I take him out and walk around the house with him on my hands he has bright colors like when hes in the sun. kinda makes me wish hes that bright when in his cage :/

Your cage size sounds big enough..my guess is he just wants out of his cage..but he's probably also around sexual maturity age and is on the look out for a hot woman. Hence why he turns his colors on outside of the cage hoping to attract one. Do you have any female chams in your house?

no i dont hes my only one

He probably wants a piece of action lol..can you take a guess at his age? How long have you had him? And can you post a few pix of him

he might just not like being in a cage, i have a female veiled who refuses to let me put her in a cage since day one, when i got her cage set up she just curled up in a spot and got all pissed didn't like being caged, so shes free roaming i feel to bad keeping her caged when shes so unhappy being caged up.

Just my opinion for what it's worth....I think that when they are in the cage they look at it as their territory and when you take them out they feel like they are in new territory and have to being the defensive so they change their colors to reflect that.

if you dont have any dangers in your house i recommend free range both my chams seem alot happier without a cage, my veiled doesn't puff up if i get near him and is alot nicer now
