Is this a burn?

I've noticed that Leo has darker/brown-ish areas on his back and right behind his casque. Are these burns or just new coloring? He just finished a shed semi-recently.

Oh good! I was worried and confused because his basking spot is 6+ inches from the heat source.

How are you measuring temps? Take a measurement at the closest point he can get to the source, most likely right below the screen. What did you come up with?
