When I bought Camilla from the reptile store a couple months ago they said there was a possibility she was pregnant, I'm not really sure if she is or if she's just chubby. She was housed with a male at the reptile store and possibly before arriving there as well, the only information the workers at the store had was that she was fairly rotund from their perspective and she didn't seem to like being around the male in her cage... When I saw her pre-purchase she was always rather dark and if the male came near her she always ran away from him but never really was aggressive towards him, she looks pretty fat to me but maybe that's all it really is, i have some pictures but she doesn't really enjoy the paparazzi, what do you guys think? I've never had a pregnant cham before so I don't know what to think lol

I'm no expert but looks like it to me hopefully someone else with a lot more knowledge chimes in

OK, the jargon czar here...your jackson's can never be "pregnant", but she can certainly be "gravid", and I'd say she is. They also don't have hard shelled eggs, but give live birth.

But gravid is defined as "pregnant; carrying eggs or young" ? Wouldn't that qualify as pregnant? I'm sorry I'm really not trying to be rude I really hope it doesn't come across that way... Thank you so much for your input!:D

I always thought that the term pregnant referred to placental mammals. Jax young are enclosed in egg sacs while inside the female (as opposed to having placentas) but break free of the sacs when they are expelled.

Yeah I suppose since they don't actually get out of the sac until they are birthed it's not quite the same but it's just the tiny details no big deal lol:p
