Is she overweight?

Hi there,

can you guys tell me if my girl Ripley is overweight? She seems to be a bit chubby. She is about 7.5 months old, weighting roughly 130g. She is very active and not interested in her laying bin.
I have to confess, I did feed her a lot cause she always seemed hungry. Mea culpa. I've cut down to 3 bugs a day recently.
There's a couple of pictures of her in different positions so yous can make a judgment.
Cheers

I haven't owned a female, but when they start to get rotund it usually means they have eggs. When they're over-weight they don't get fat tummys, it usually to do with the plumpness of the casque and cheeks, I think.

VERY pretty girl by the way :D

Cheers=) Doing my best to keep her happy and healthy

Well, she still eats everything I give, she is quite active and she is not interested in the laying bin in her enclosure.

Cool. To minimise egg-laying lots of people minimise food intake, she could probably be fed every other day. It depends on the size of your feeders, but 3 bugs on alternate days shoud be ok. I think it helps if the temps are lower too, what's you basking temp like?

Sounds great :) again, she really is beautiful, I keep looking back at the pics! Sooo different from my male's patterns.

She started showing colors about 3-4 weeks ago, before that was green with white patches.
Got a wee man recently too. He's really tiny now and so cute!

Aww they are such beautiful creatures!

Can I see your boy?

here he is exploring the garden. he's a bit of a grump at the moment- puberty!

From what I can see from the pics she definately is gravid. Make sure you have a very damp laying bin in her cage with access to it from her plants. When she is ready she will find the sand or dirt and lay those eggs. The best way to tell is by looking over the back legs. I can see an egg on both sides which means she is full of eggs with not too much time left to go.

Good luck.

lysinlight87, he's so flat ha! My girl is like a balloon most of the times. Nice colors though

RealIzeRecognIze, aye most of the time

BocaJan, Cheers. I put a tray with sand in her enclosure, but as for now, she only goes to the loo there. She definitely got rounder in the last couple of weeks though. Will keep an eye on her.

Put her in a big laying bin today, she instantly climbed back to her tree. And generally the only time she goes down from her branches is when I come in to the room (cause she knows I can let her out). She would go down the branches and then climb the door and wait till I open the enclosure.
I'll keep the wee laying bin in, but she is not really interested in sand ha. She wants to climb and eat.
