Olive ( my Jackson X) is just not acting herself - her babies are 5 days old now, and she just has not acted right from after the birth - I know sometimes after a vet visit they will act " off a bit" or "shy" - she is eating, drinking, but she is also hiding so deep in her plant it took 2 of us to find her this AM - and she would not even leave it to got to her normal sleeping spot - I am sure it was a hell of a day for her-and I let her alone all day, and she pretty much acted odd for the first 2 days, and now this?? or am I just worring to much? has anyone had their girls get weird after eggs or babies? my dear sweet husband says its because I took her babies away, and she wants them back - I told him she would have them as a snack ! ( he does not do the Cham thing  but even he can see she is not acitng her crabby little self ) I wanted to move her cage, but I better not now- or is now a good time due to she is not acting normal anyway?

If she isn't acting normally, stops eating or drinking and basking she may be showing delayed physical strain from the birth, there might be a retained ova or internal injury. Or, she's put so much into producing her babies that she needs additional nutrition or supplements to recover. I have not kept a jax that has produced babies so don't know what supplement boosts would be best however. Others may be better able to help you.

You are right, your DH is wrong!:p

well, I found the issue w/ Olive, I would hide too- look at this ! no wonder she did not feel well- and she was not drinking as much as I thought she was either- is this like 4 days worth? she only did "one" poo- but so much ? she was so far in the plant, and I even told the vet I was not sure if she was going - but after she went, she went to her basking spot, and is now in bed in her normal sleeping spot :)

I would make sure you give her more water over the next few days. Just an extra 1 or 2 mistings a day. What did the vet suggest to you?

to take her out and give her a shower if I was not sure about her going, and bring her in if she does not start acting normal in the next 24 hrs - thankfully when I got home from work, she had went, I had my daughter run her rain dome, she had a good drink ( from inside her plant) then came out, and pooped - I am still going to do extra misting, and I have the rain dome set to run 3/4 of a gal of water - that is alot of water- lol but I want to be sure she has plenty of time to drink

I would giver her the shower still early in the morning. Even if you do not run the rain dome more than normal, just doing the showers will help a lot!

I will :) I carry the babies cage in every morning, and they sit in the bathroom as everyone showers - so they get some really good high humidity, even tho they are not IN the shower, they seem to like it , get all active and really charges them up for "the hunt" of pinheads , then I add fr/ flies before I leave for work - the kids are out for spring break, so Olive can tie up the bathroom for the AM :p

Cheryl you should be asamed of yourself!! Poor Olive, you let the whole world see her cleaning out so to speak. She was not will to poop as you keep exposing her. First poop, then babies, now poop. i am going to make her a tiny dress so she doesn't feel exposed, then she will come out of the tree.
