Is part shedding a problem?

As some of you know, Simba has been shedding over the past couple of days.

He's got it all off apart from the skin on his tail. The skin doesn't look loose or like its about to peel off at all, it's just really dull looking compared to the rest of him.

I know this can cause issue with snakes and cause circulation issues when the unshed skin constricts. Does this apply to chams too?

Whats the best thing to do for him? Leave it to come off on it's own?

Mist him more or let it dry????

Don't want his tail to fall off!!!

Snakes differ from chameleons in the fact that snakes shed their whole skin in one long piece. Chameleons, as they age, lose it in patches :)

I am not giving a definitive answer, but my anoles I used to have would have skin hanging off their tail for a while. Eventually, when it was time, it would come off. So I'm going to guess that he will be fine, albeit cranky for a bit longer :D

If the skin is just pale and not constricting any part of tail, as in a tight band, then I would mist more as that will help . He is just not ready to shed it yet. :)

Yeah, part shedding is just what they tend to do as they get older. Nothing to worry about. Keep his humidity as normal and it will come off when it's ready :) Or do extra mistings and it might come off a little quicker.

PHEW! Thanks for the reassurance.

Just popped his mister on for an extra misting and took some pics of the colour difference I was talking about.

During the misting he even brightened up a bit!!

Now the mister is off, he's gone dark again! LOL He must have enjoyed his shower so much the other day that he's upset to be out of it!!

I have a little water dragon!! LOL
