Is my Senegal Chameleon alright?

I purchased a juvenille senegal chameleon from Reptilecity.com, it arrived after a couple days. Im aware most are always caught wild and possibly have a disease. My little fellow is very sweet, it loves to be handled and always is a happy light green when I take him out. The thing is, I thought chameleons dont like to be handled and hiss and bite, he has never done a thing to me or my brothers. It climbs onto my hand and sometimes wont get iff when I try to put him back in his cage. He gets a good temp of 75-85 degrees and lots of water, I have about 15 crickets in his cage, not sure If he ate any yet (had him for 3 ayds so far). Today he opened up his mouth wide and vomited what seemed to ne a cricket. I looked up about this and sites said they might puke from over drinking, he was drinking alot today though. Another thing he does is fall asleep on my hand, not surw if his cage light is to bright, but I turn it off at night. At the moment he fell asleep clinginh to my phone charger <3 I hope hes ok, by the way, the gender is unknown, I just call it a he, any way you can tell gender at 3 months? Hi MorbidlyObeseUnicorn I just pick up an Senegal this past Saterday myself, (A Birthday gift from my Son) I don't know if it's a Boy or Girl yet. Anyway I would get your little guy to a vet. It sound like an internal parasite problem from what you described. I had my male jacksons at the vet last week for a not eating problem and the vet did a fecal exam and found out he had an internal parasite, Treating with meds which he is resonding good to, eating and doing allot better. If you do go to the vet bring a fecal sample, if you cannot provide one the vet can get one. I called the vet first to describe the problem your having and he will recomend what you shoud do.

Congrats on your new Senegal.
What wild caught chameleons very often have is internal parasites.
Internal parasites can cause a chameleon to vomit up food and if left untreated, can cause the cham to die.
It would be a good idea for a vet who is very knowledgeable about reptiles to examine him and do fecal tests for parasites.
I'll call your cham "him" in this post.

When you get a new cham, it is best to not handle him for a few weeks, so he can adjust to his new environment.
After he gets used to things, you can handle him for short times.
The less he is handled the better it is for his health.
Chams are not very adaptable to changes--even a new place to live is stressful to a cham.
He should have live plants with a lot of places to hide in his cage.
Hopefully he is in a screen cage or a special terrarium made for reptiles and is not a fish tank.
Many chams don't bite when handled, but it doesn't mean that they are not stressed by the handling.
One reaction to stress is to just close their eyes.
In the wild, most chameleons live their lives all alone.
Stress can make your cham get sick much more easily and if a cham has internal parasites, stress will often allow the parasites to seriously affect his health.

Water is good if it is sprayed onto the leaves of a plant so he can drink.
Chameleons don't recognize water in water dishes and will often become dehydrated from not drinking if that is the only water source.
Senegals need a warm basking area in their cage to digest their food and absorb the nutritients. An 80 to 85 degree basking area will allow him to digest properly.
A basking light provides the heat.
A UVB light is also needed to keep a cham healthy. Without a UVB light like the reptisun 5.0, a chameleon will become ill because he won't be able to absorb the calcium from his food.
It is unwise to leave uneaten crickets in a cage with a cham because they will chew on your chameon, unless the crickets have some food like carrot or potato.
Chameleons also need to eat a variety of insects in addition to crickets, like silkworms, phoenixworms, dubias, hornworms and other feeders.
Their feeders should be lightly dusted with supplements.
Here is a good schedule to use for dusting the insects he eats.
Calcium without D3 every feeding
Calcium with D3 once every 2 weeks
Vitamins 2 times a month.

Senegals do tend to drink a lot of water. It should not make them throw up. It could be that he was away from his basking area for too long and could not digest his food or it could be a problem with internal parasites or something else, perhaps. A healthy cham does not usually vomit.

All of his lights should be off for 12 hours each night so he can rest and grow.

Again, I would let him adjust to everything for a couple of weeks, for the sake of his health, instead of handling him.
I believe they need to be a bit older to be sure of gender.

Thank you everyone, im gonna contact a vet as soon as possible, I know how to take care of him but I just wondered if this was odd for them. Im planning to breed senegals so I sure need my little guy healthy! Plus im so attached to him! Thanks again, im just a mewbie with chameleons sorta, ive just have been breedinh dwarf hamsters for a year and I have 18 of them xD
