Jackson Cage

I think for the time being you will fine, but I would start working on a new set up as soon as possible. I started with a glass enclosure too, but chameleons really new to be housed in a fresh air cages. At a minimum, for a Jackson I would get a cage that is at least 18"W x 18"L x 36" tall, but I personally would aim for getting some thing bigger. As for the sticks in the cage, I recommend striping off the bark and then baking the sticks in the over @ 350 degrees for at least half and hour. If you don't feel like doing that, at least dowse them with bleach, then wash them off with fresh water at least twice. The one problem I had with my glass enclosure was all the water that got trapped at the bottom of the cage. When it comes down to properly misting your chameleon, you are going to need to clean the cage a lot. Honestly, it actually becomes more costly for you doing this. If you need any more help, feel free to ask. I maybe a junior member in this forum, but I have had chameleons for years now. Plus there are so many great and knowledgeable people here its awesome.

Thanks.... But yea, he's cage it's only glass in the front and in the bottom . The top and the left and right side it's all mesh cage. As for the sticks I dipped them in boiling water all around. As for my Cham ... He's ok but I find him sometimes wanting to get out @ nite. But I was told he's okay from when I ask the Reptile stores but I'd rather get advise and help from ppl who deal only with chameleons.

hi and welcome! I see you have a tube style light on top of your cage. Is that a UVB light? If so what brand and is it a 5.0? Also, do you have a basking light? I do not see one. I hate to tell you but you need to remove the substrate. It is going to turn into a soggy mess that will breed mold and bacteria. Also you do not want your chameleon to eat accidentally while shooting for prey or intentionally. It could potentially kill your chameleon. Also, I would add some more foilage for your little guy to feel safe and secure. Also, whatis the cup in the bottom right corner for?

Hello, carol..... And yes it's a UVB light reptiglo 5.0 and I also have a 60 watt heat lamp that has a dimmer as well, I had just fed my chameleon and left the heat lamp on the floor...and the cup on the right corner is for the dripper I have , I placed a napkin inside the cup, for any unnecessary accidents ... So as for your reply I should remove substrate and add more plants.??
