Is my Panther Receptive or Pregnant?

Hey everyone. I started a thread a few days ago about this and I thought I got my answer but I just wanted to post a pic for verification. My Nosy Be Female is about 7.5 months old and she recently has changed her coloration to peach and pink. From everything I have read it seems to be receptive colors but I would like a few more experienced eyes to take a look. She is all over the cage since she changed her looks and I found her down near the plant pot just now. That is what slightly freaked me out because I was not sure if she was looking for a place to lay, although I have seen her down that far before. Let me know what you think. Thanks!

Thanks! She is looking quite pretty! No I don't have a lay bin in there at the moment. To be honest she is mainly staying at the top and pacing. That is the first time I seen her low in the last few days. I keep thinking she is just receptive but I also don't want her to be holding eggs she needs to lay. She does not look like she is carrying eggs, but then again I am no expert on this. How big of a container, deep, etc. do I need and what do I need to fill it with?

My female stayed at the top almost the entier time.. until she went to the bottom to her bucket and started digging, and aside from my females abvious gravid colors. and getting a little rounder, you wouldnt have known she had 38 eggs in her either.

you need a bucket that can hold at least 12 inches of washed playsand or dirt.

I use a mop bucket from the dollar store, and 14 inches of top soil.

it needs to be damp enough that she can dig a tunnel without it collapsing, but not so wet it just turns to mud.

Oh okay. Wow 38 eggs?! LOL hmmm well I'm not sure if I can even fit a bucket in the enclosure that's that big. I have empty 5 quart I e cream buckets that are 7 inches deep. That won't work will it?

38 is nothing. ive heard of some that had over 50! one person.. her female laid over 100 eggs! but thats the top point, and care wasnt taken to prevent it.. (novice owner at the time)

how big is the enclosure?

7 inches really wont work. my female dug that deep and then some when she finally laid.

My enclosure is 18x18x36 I was trying to get a bigger one awhile back from DYI but they have been out of stock for months on the 24x24x48 models. Hmmm, I can probably get a 10wX12d bucket or pot in there if I move the aboricola to the back corner. I will try and locate one today and grab a bag of playsand while I am at it. I could also make a corner lay bin ( triangluar shaped) from some 1x12 cedar boards and flll it with sand. That may give her a bit more room.

Get a rectangle bathroom trash can. Mine is 10 inches deep and they all are ok with using that. They dig down and over, not straight down so you'll be ok. I have had many clutches laid in my trash cans because my cages are the same sizes as yours and they don't think anything about it, just start digging.
