Is my "male" a late bloomer or have I been dooped?

I have a 7 month old Nosey Faly from a very reputable breeder that was sold to me as a male. At 7 months of age he shows VERY little color. A bit of blue shows at times and he does have a few red dots. Otherwise I have a basic brown chameleon with a lot of pink hue showing. Here are pics:

Could you post a few of the overall chameleon as well? I have a guess but see the full chameleon will confirm it.

Nvm. I just saw you posted more.

You have not been dooped, that is a male.

What that said though. So far he doesn't look to be a true faly but you won't know for sure until he would get older.

Also, he looks fairly small for 7 months old so maybe that is why he is a late bloomer as he is growing very slowly.

Thanx so much! I am SO happy! I have bonded with the little gaffer and hated to think of giving him up for a male.

You mentioned that you don't think he is a true nosey faly. May I ask why? I have noticed ALOT od pink hues under his belly and sides. Do these pink undertones generally turn red?

Based on the pics where his colors are showing are you able to guess what he will look like as an adult?

Hi! may I ask, how does seeing the full chameleon help you determine gender? I am also wondering how you can tell how the colors will develop. Based on the pics where he is light but shows blue and pinks.. will the pinks stay pink or will the turn red or blue??

It is hard to say exactly what he will develop into. Generally they will continue to grow in as their under tones but they can also switch drastically so I can't tell you exactly how he will turn out.

From you pictures where he is lighter his bars almost look red which isn't a Faly characteristic but since he isn't fully developed it is hard to really say.

As for seeing the whole chameleon it helps with both the tail base bulge, the general colors as well as the rostral length which all help determine/confirm the sex.

OK, Here are some better pics of the tail and rear end. Hoping this will give a definitive answer from everyone. :) I am going to get my hubby take the pics so I have a free hand to manipulate this more

showed my breeder the pics and this is definitely a female :( we are both so sad this happened. she is awesome though and is making everything right

You can't delete a post. But I still don't know about it being a female. The colors in those last pictures scream female but I still see a small bulge in some of the pictures.

It almost looks like two different chameleons from the first pictures to the second batch with the colors.

I would give it more time as he/she doesn't look even close to 7 month old? When did you get him / her

Going off the 2nd post, I would of leaned to male, but the rest I say female.
Does seem like 2 diff chams. Very nice Cham either way.
Kath.

I don't see much of a bulge either but in a lot of the pictures it still doesn't look like a normal female tail base. It looks to be more straight like you would see in a young male.

Also look at the rostral especially in the second set of pictures. Here is a full grown female and you can see already this chameleon's is fairly larger at a much younger age.

Hi all! I am back to let you all know that the mystery has been solved! IT'S A BOY! Little bugger had us all confused for so long and he suddenly dropped a bulge and blew more blue coloration! I am glad to see we weren't the only ones being fooled by the little guy hahaha :)
