Is my girl pregnant and how far off do you think?

Hi everyone,

So I guess this is my first time my little girl will have babies. I hope. So she has been fat for a few weeks now, and have taken some photos over the last few weeks, would someone be able to tell me if she is actually pregnant?

I have her in a tub - with damp sand, strong enough to hold a tunnel, I have also put the heat lamp near it so it is warm as well.. Only problem is - she is not digging and have no idea - when she is due?

Would anyone be able to tell me or advise me from the pics if she is close to laying? And - No I am not peaking to see how she is doing, just leaving her alone and checking on her once a night, to make sure she is fine.

wow she looks close you will know if she stops eating climbing around the bottom restsless alot but ya she looks close to poppin do you have a bin in her cage?

hi there,

has she been with a male? youll notice a few signs before she lays like not eating and going to the bottom of her cage and if she mated when did the mating occur? it takes about 20-30 days for veileds to lay, also try digging a test tunnel for her and yes those are her gravid colors

p.s. dont leave her in the bucket all day just for about 2-3 hours max i would say you dont want to stress her out to much if she isnt ready to lay

by her belly i would say your over half way for sure how much do you feed her and was she mated if so when?

I don't have a bin in her cage, I have actually taken her out of her cage, and put her in a plastic tub, with holes in it for moisture, it is quite dark for her, but there is heat, so she is quite warm, temp about 70's.

Although, I don't know if I should have her in a separate tub or put her back in her cage and put the tub at the bottom, it is only that the cage I have is quite big but is separated in the middle with mesh so the male can't get to her, so they share one massive enclosure, that is split in the middle to house both.

Hope that makes sense. :)

I feed her about 10-15 crickets a day, she has stopped eating though I noticed, And to be honest I really don't know when she mated as I used to house the male and female together up until a month ago, and about 2 weeks the male got into her cage, and they mated and that is the only time I saw him on top of ehr, so my guess is two weeks, or it could have been before that.

you should have her in the bottom half with a bucket of sand mix 12inc deep 12inc wide all aroud imo that would be your saffest bet how do you light he bottom or have a basking spot for the male the top is hotter that should be males living quarters jimo

Oh okay great, sure I have had her in the bucket for about 5 hours now so I will get her out and put her in her tub. And yes she has been with a male. My female is Pascal, and my male is Yoshi, so Yoshi has doen the deed. I have also dug a test tunnel for her :)

ya a bin for sure or fill a garbage can cut a hole in the top for a basking light a stick for her to climb on and just let her go at it. i like the bin in the cage for my girls it is not a guessing game that way they have the tools right there in there home lol

Well yeah my chams for some reason act like I starve them during feeding time so they eat heaps. But she has stopped eating at the moment and didn't eat yesterday or today.

Really do you think she could lay quite a few? I was thinking that I might get around 20?

now she get 3 or 4 thats it even if she thinks she is starving but after they lay i let them eat like pigs for a couple days

:Dbig clutches are scary and very hard on them thats why i cut them way down that would be my suggestion :):):):) well i think my wife fed her a few times extra lol sneaking our baby some cookies lol but live and learn.:D:D

Yes I shall definitely do that, if she does not lay over the next few days or so... She is definitely getting no more than 3 a day :)

Thanks for the advice, and I will keep everyone posted on this progress.

awsome keep us posted not to worry you more but because you dont have a date of mating watch for bad signs lethargic sinking eyes not eating for a week or more these signs mean vet time oxytocin shot will help lay when they take too long and bigin to bind but only if its going into too long just precaution best of luck she looks healthy you should be fine keep info for future breedings:):):)

What date was she mated? If she's slowed down on the eating she might be close to laying the eggs.

Now is not the time to cut her food down. Its too late to change the number of eggs at this point. The time to start is a couple of days after she has laid the eggs with the hope that it limits the number of follicles that will ovulate. Also, overfeeding a veiled female constantly can lead to reproductive issues and MBD and even push her towards prolapsing and constipation.
