Is my chameleon afraid of me?

My 3-4 month old male closes his eyes when I pick him up, not any other time. He has his eyes open all the time except for when I pick him up and he closes them. He might open them and look around when he's on my hand but then he closes them again. Is he afraid of me?

How do I make him not afraid of me?

Go slow. You could sit with the cage door open for a little if your cham is in a room with a door or if you sit close and do your own thing but keep a close eye on him, also try hand feeding, don't move very fast around him and at some point he should slowly come around but it's gonna take time and patience to get where you want. You get what you put in

It takes a while sometimes they will get used to you or sometimes they want. When they close your eyes usually a sign of stress. Keep at it
