Is my basking temp too low?

Today I saw my cham screen climbing on the top of the enclosure. He’s been doing this lately but I realized that he sits next to the heat bulb every time. Not under thankfully. I tested the temp and it was around 93 where he sat. My basking branch is at 85. He is a male veiled about 6-7 months old (from what I’ve determined, the store told me 6-9).

85 sounds fine for his age. Be sure you have the basking light raised up a few inches off the screen to prevent burns

Yeah I am going to get that set up soon. He hasn’t done this before. But he seems smart enough to not go directly under the lamp but I’ll do it anyway

They don't usually realize they are getting burned....just like people don't realize they're getting a sunburn until it's too late....so don't wait to fix the light issue.
