I was doing some research on the Jacksons chameleons and an artical or care sheet and it said that you can put a female Jackson and male Jackson Cham together to live in the same cage...is this true?????could u put them together???
Even if you planned on housing them together I would begin first by making/buying two seperate cages and have a fully supervised trial preiod.
Most keepers would say to avoid the pairing and by having a seperate cage, you could be prepared for the worst if you happened to notice that your chams were not getting along. I could even imagine two chams not fighting, but being stressed to the point of reaching health issues.
You might even inspect them from time to time just to make sure there are no bite marks or anything if your trial period looks good. All chams are different and have their own personality. You might get lucky. You might get two that cant stand each other. You wont know until you have them both.
I say if you want to give it a try, go for it, but be very cautious and expect the worst untill you see sucess. That and the more experience you have the better you can watch for signs of issues. If you havent kept chams before, I would recommend taking care of a few (especially in the breed you want to pair up) before even considering pairing.
Yeah if your going to try this def put the two cages side by side and see how they react to each other for a while. I mean for a month or more. Watch for signs of not eatting, drinking or basking. If one or both are too concerned with the other and not doing their normal behaviors then its not going to work, Easier to fix if they both already have their own cages from the outset. Just put up a visual barrior and theyshould forget the other is there. Personally, I would make sure I had some exp and time taking care of one first then worry about adding a second later on after you've got some hands on exp with that species.
