is it ok if my cage is in a dark room? Will the reptisun 5.0 18 inch and a 40 or 60 watt zoo med blue bulb be enough light for him? My cage is 2x2x4 with an umbrella tree in it, its kind of dark at the bottom

Those two lights give the heat and UV needed.. I kept mine in a relatively dark room for a while and he did fine... As far as I know it's the environment INSIDE the cage that's important

It doesn't matter if the bottom is dark. As long as the top is lit up you don't have to to worry. They go up to the lights when they need the uvb or the heat.

I don't think it's a big deal so long as the cage is well lit, if the cage is to dark just add a 6500k (I think it's call ) florescent bulb (in addition to your uvb and heat lamp). It's good for your plants to !

I like to keep mine in a well lighted room. If the room is dark your cham will think it's getting dark and be ready for bed too early.

The reflection thing is not a problem. We still don't know where that one came from. They react to mirrors but not regular glass.

the reflexion from plexi and glass can turn up the power of the lights and stuff like water. example i don't burn when the sun comes out one cause i'm a brown guy but if i go to the lake the reflexion magnifies the sun and I do get burned from the glare from the water. thats what the glass or plexi can do depending on the lighing situation cause they don't use tempered glass on the terreriums i think hunny bunny!!!:p

That gem is courtesy of a high profile dealer in the early 90's. It was one of those things that started off as an "I wonder if..." and then took a life of it's own, earning a place right next to Vitamin A causing edema and melleri carrying a deadly virus that can decimate entire collections.

Urban legends are wonderful!

(sigh) those were the good ole days...Now if you'll excuse me I need to go whack a mealworm over its head before I feed it so it doesn't burrow out of my chameleon's stomach.
