Im not sure if alpha actually meant giving the vegetables directly to your Cham but you sure can gut load your feeder insects fruits and vegetables and they will pass on those nutrients to your Cham. Some vegetables you can give to your feeder insects are
It depends on your type of chameleon. If you have a veiled then you can probably convince her to chow down on some dark leafy greens and a few fruits. Otherwise you feed your fruits and veggies to your feeders as a water source and a added vitamin/health food bonus.
Below are the vegetables that I used for Gutloading my feeders with prior I feed them to my cham...
Veggies include (but are not limited to) the following:
collard greens
mustard greens
dandelion greens
escarole
endive
carrot greens
green beans
hard squashes
parsley
Today, my students had their science fair and one of them brought silkworms for her project. She gave me a couple of thems.
Can my Chameleon eat it? And how many if it is a yes?
It should be fine ^^ silkworms are a great feeder, I never even dust them because they are naturally high in calcium.Depending on how big the silkworms are depends on whether your chameleon can eat them and how many. For a two month old, veiled or panther, I would feed like... hmm two half inch ones a day or one 3/4 inch one. Or you could raise them yourself and possibly get babies out of it depending on whether you get a pair out of them... but that only works if you have chow or mulberry leaves ^^
Depends on the butterfly, only feed dull colored ones. Brightly colored ones are usually poisonous, and get regular fecal if you are feeding wild caught creatures in case of parasites. Also be careful of pesticides
