Is Corkscrew Rush a Safe Plant?

I found a few beat up Corkscrew Rushes (Juncus effusus 'Spiralis') on sale. It is perfect for the baby cages but is it safe?

I can't find much on it but I am suspect.

It would be for T. q. quadricornis and T. q. gracilior babies. It looks perfect--gives the fruit flies lots of tips to congregate on and nice tiny branches for the babies.

Has anyone used it?

Hey Janet-

Interesting choice in plant. New shoots (growth) actually can be eaten, but the older growth can be toxic to mammals (not necessarily in every case, however).

I personally would use it, if I wanted something different from the plants I use (I tend to use the same type of plants for everything).
