50 watts is ok as long as your basking temp is good. It is not always the bulb, but how far the bulb is above your enclosure and how high or low you have your basking branch/branches from the heat source. I use a 40 watt house bulb and it does the trick!

Measure the temp under the bulb at the basking perch once the light has been on for a while. Only then will you know which bulb is best. Don't assume just by the watt label. Your particular cage and room setup will determine the power you need. That's one reason plain ol' house bulbs are great...not such a big cost if you need to keep switching them out.
