Intrusion of roaches or a colony of roaches

Intrusion is when they come uninvited. We are trying to make a colony, like a colony of yeast. A self replicating biomass conversion if you will :)

Yep totally agree. We want roaches (in their cage) I had to kill a female roach that I was about to feed to my Cham but I knocked the cup over before it was eaten and the roach went running and I had no choice but to smash it and thankfully I did cuz there was a huge line of eggs inside that came flying out. That would have been really bad if they hatched in my house.

What kind? That's what I love about Dubia. Apparently due to how long it takes for them to mature 4-5 months unless you're house is roach heaven with high temps and readily available food they have slim chances of intruding.

It was a dubia roach, but it was in my garage where I keep it warm for all the crickets and roaches, and I have all the cat food in there and the outside cats live in my garage over the winter and there's plenty of cat food to feast on lol. I don't think that they would have reproduced after the eggs hatched, but still all them roach babies running around wouldn't be good. I still wana see a female dubia "give birth"

Same, I never get to even see the white baby clusters. Saw an ootheca only once, and it some how exploded and killed the female.

I've read that a group of roaches is called an intrusion (like a herd of cows or a murder of crows.) I just call them a colony of roaches since I am breeding them and they are not just any old group of dirty roaches.

As above most people use the word "colony" ov roaches but infact the collective noun is "intrusion"ov roaches
Please correct me if am wrong

Yes, you are incorrect. A group of cockroaches is called an intrusion, so it is not correct to say that a group of roaches is called an intrusion because not all roaches are cockroaches.

What? I dont understand?

Dubia are indeed cockroaches. As are discoids, red runners, lobsters, hissers, etc.

Ohhh really? I was under the impression that cockroaches were a totally different group, such as dubia and the rest. Well thanks for the clarification!

Edit: Ohhh yes of course, Madagascan Hissing Cockroaches... *shakes head* Oy!
