Hey everyone. I am a newbie to Chameleons but a lover of all reptiles and exotics. I’m exploring chameleons at the moment and getting serious about getting one (at least 6 months out). Looking forward to learning everything I can from this community!

I’m looking specifically at panther chameleons or carpets. I really like their vibrant color.

i would start with the panther. sizable chameleon, not too pissy and pretty nice colorations, you might want to check out the locale differences

That was kind of my leaning as well.

I definitely have been made aware that localities exist and I have seen the names thrown around on different breeder sites, and the best I could figure, is that they contributed to overall color and heritage. Do they have any physiological differences, temperment, or specific care requirement differences?
If there are any threads specific to those questions I certainly would like to look into them.

Not that I know of, they all seem to act like Panthers to me!

Haha good to know. I’m particularly interested in the blue and deep reds of the Ambanja, and the Ambilobe, respectively.

Panther’s are a great start! There are quite a few breeders here on the forum. Feel free to ask questions! Better to start off on the right foot.
