Internal organ showing??

Hello, I have a 4 month old male amilobe and i happened to glance at his cage and saw a big red organ like thin protruding from his butt. I panicked and ran at the cage and it went back inside right away, does anyone know what this is and if it is harmful??

It was probably his hemipenis. If it went back in that's good news. Keep a close eye on him and if it comes back out get on here ASAP so we can tell you what to do until you get him to a vet. A vet visit would also be needed right away if it came out and didn't go back in.

That was his hemipene. It is not unusual for a male to do this, sometimes happens when pooping. It is nothing to worry about as long as it goes back in. If it does not that is an emergent situation and he will need to get to a vet as soon as possible. You can soak him in some warm water with sugar in it. That is supposed to help shrink it and sometimes it will go in. The other thing you would need to do is keep it moist using a water soluble lubricant like K-Y jelly. Hopefully that will never happen. I am sure that someone else will chime in and tell you the portions to use to make the sugar water.
